Q. What is green energy and how can I support it?

This is a great question and a very important topic. “Green” or renewable energy is energy that comes from a source that is continually replenished; some examples are sunlight, wind, and water. If you purchase energy from PSNH, you’ll be happy to know that a portion of your electricity was generated at the company’s nine hydroelectric plants, Northern Wood Power (a biomass unit), and other local renewable power developers like Iberdrola’s Lempster wind power project. But what if you want to go a bit further?

Effective with participating customers’ March electric bill, PSNH’s EarthSmart Green Rate, as approved by the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission, will increase from 1.972 cents/kWh to 3.579 cents/kWh.
